Great~ Yesterday I went to watch the Pirates of the Caribbean, dead man's chest. The show is very very entertaining. I kept laughing non-stop. There is a part which scares the wit out of me and that i jumped! However, I dont really understand some parts of the story. The ending is horrible too... its like watching TV series which ends at the 'climax'(the part which you never thought would end there). This obviously shows that there is a third series for Caribbean.


Today Ms Xiao gave me a Jolin poster. How nice of her to give me something which i treasured most. =) Thanks again Ms Xiao! I know you will read this( i think).

Whats for biology pratical today? Time flies by so quickly when we are having fun.

See this? The heart of the goat without the atrium.
We are going to dissect it

What you see here is Tuan Quan dissecting it. However, this is a different heart you see from the previous one because this is the full heart with the atrium.



This is what you sees when you cut open it. Showing you guys the ventricle with the valves and tendons. Ain't it gross?

This photo is to show you guys how powerful the valves are. They don't break even when we carry the heart with only the valve(even when we bounces it).

Next up is Mr. Kidney! Whose kidney it is i dont know. But it is definitely not mine. =P
When i first saw this, what i wanted to do most is to squashed it. lol.

With the help of clarence, we halved the kidney to see the internal parts.
Here you can also see Matt cutting open the heart.

So, this is what you see when it is cut.
The outer region is the cortex followed by the medulla... Those lighter coloured ones are the collecting ducts. Lastly the concave side is the pelvis.

After observing the inner parts, Clarence squeezed the kidney in his hands which makes it look very gross...(just like the hands of a murderer).
Of course, Miss yap caught him in action and demanded him to clear up the mess immediately. hoho~

After the dissection, we used the microscopy to see the cells of kidneys. See this photo? Isn't it nice? Mayb expect the background... hahaha.


This isnt the first time i dissect a heart. I remembered doing the same experiment during Sec. 4 but this is the first time for kidney.=)
We seldom have the chance to dissect living organs or animals which I think is fun and enriching. hehe.
